This is a list of plants and material of plant origin used in the household, listed in the course of the village survey. Samples were examined in situ by T.R. Premathilake of the PGIAR and identified by him. The identifications are based on the samples examined. The species are identified by their botani­ cal names. The local names are mostly ones in general use in the Dry Zone but in some cases relate only to the sample species examined.

The same name may also be applied in some instances to other botanical species, but these alternatives are not indicated here as they did not feature in the sample examined.
